Sharrow Bay is the epitome of shabby chic country house sumptuousness. The room was absolutely lovely, with amazing views of the tranquil location next to the lake. The staff were extremely attentive and polite, making us feel right at home. The food was the best we have ever had, making our dining experience truly enjoyable. We will definitely return to this wonderful hotel.

A very pleasant environment to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary the rooms very lovely except the chairs were not very comfortable. Everything else was excellent. Sometimes a high quality look is at the expense of practical use and comfort.

The location is exceptional, on the edge of Ullswater. Dinner was good but there was no possibility of having less than 5 courses, other than omitting them from a fixed price meal.
Lack of a la carte alternative. Room was only kept at a reasonable temperaturebyleavingthewindow open all day. This when the outside temperature was about 7c and with all the radiators turned off.

I always love going back to sharrow and the surrounding area have gone for 25yrs
It is a very sad tired old lady could be brought back to a luxury hotel with the right backer but sadly will never be the same as when the two gays had it it was very special. Dig deep someone and restore this little piece of heaven. Vikki akrill

This lovely hotel is situated in the magnificent Lake District, in a roofed area with stunning views over Ullswater. the refurbished bathrooms and comfy beds offer a luxurious stay. the friendly and attentive staff provide excellent service, making you feel like a personal guest in a well, run English country house. the candlelit rooms and real fire create a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Guests can enjoy a delicious dinner overlooking the lake, and the luxury accommodations include a private terrace with a view. the location and ambiance of this hotel are truly one, of, a, kind.
The absence of a clock in the bathroom might make it easy to lose track of time and potentially miss scheduled meetings.

The staff were fantastic and the food was amazing
Whilst still lovely (we have stayed here before) the decor and furnishings were beginning to look a little shabby in places

Charming small hotel - certainly lived up to my expectations. Relaxed atmosphere - front door open - extremely friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful room - apparently upgraded, so thank you. Utterly wonderful food. We loved staying with you.
This is not a complaint - merely an observation which might be useful to you. Both my husband and I felt that the dinner portions were too large. I had quail breast to start with, and felt that it could have been just one quail breast and not two. On the menu it said 'quail breast / salad etc. With all the generous canapes to start with, and the extras that one is given throughout the dinner, by the time we both got to the main course (in my case filet), I was full! It goes against the grain to leave anything on my plate - particiularly such good food!!
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
